About DIS
Who are we?
DIS is a non-profit education institution based in central Copenhagen.
We are a study abroad institution for undergraduate students from North America, who come to Copenhagen and Stockholm to study for a semester or a year, and we have been welcoming students to Scandinavia since 1959. Each year, around 3500 students come here from more than 200 partner universities.
Our students live in our kollegiums across Copenhagen, and take classes in our facilities on Vestergade.

Who are DIS students?
Our students are typically between 19 and 21 years old and study at universities in North America. As part of their bachelor’s degree, they choose to spend a semester (four months) studying with DIS.
DIS students come to engage deeply in their academics, often taking courses they wouldn’t otherwise have access to at their home institutions. Their studies combine classroom learning with hands-on experiences such as field studies and study tours across Denmark and Europe. They represent a wide range of academic disciplines, from the sciences and social sciences to the humanities and creative fields.
If you live at a DIS Kollegium, conversations can be especially rich, as a study abroad experience invites reflection, and students are often eager to share perspectives, discuss cultural differences, and exchange ideas shaped by their time in Copenhagen.

DIS Stockholm
DIS also offers student housing in Stockholm at our three different studentboende locations.
The concept is the same as in Copenhagen: Bringing people of different backgrounds together and fostering international communities in centrally located, modern buildings.

Availability
When applying for student housing at the DIS Kollegiums, you may be wondering how long it will take to receive a room offer. At DIS, we take pride in our thoughtful matching process and put great care into placing residents in a kollegium that suits them well.
As a result, we don't have a traditional waiting list. Instead, we prioritize applicants who have put effort into their application and demonstrate a genuine interest in joining our international community. What does this mean for you? It means that you may receive an offer for a room at one of our kollegiums shortly after submitting your application.

Application
The application process is based on a written application and a video. To apply for admission to one of our residence halls, you must submit an official application and indicate which residence halls you are interested in becoming a part of. It is a requirement that you are actively enrolled in an educational institution to apply for a kollegium.
You can apply to all the dormitories that you are interested in, and the more you apply to, the more chances you have of being offered a room.
